Rev. Sellers was born to the late Mr. S. B. and Ethel Sellers, and the 4th of six children. He was raised in the city of Hueytown AL. Rev. Sellers accepted Christ in the summer of 1977 at First Baptist Church of Hueytown under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. K. S. Baker. He served in several ministries, Jr. Usher board, Shepherd Boys ministry, President of the No. 2 Usher board, Teacher of the Married Couples ministry, to name a few. Rev. Sellers was licensed to preach by Rev. Dr. K. S. Baker in 1997 and ordained in 1998 by Rev Charles Thompson. In 2002, Rev. Sellers united with the New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church family under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Charles R. Winston Jr. as an Associate Minister. Rev. Sellers served as Minister of Visitation and Youth Bible study teacher.


In January 2004, Rev. Sellers became the eighth Pastor of the Historic Friendship Baptist Church in the Rosedale Community of Homewood, Alabama. The church is a Traditional Baptist Church that has a high spirited contemporary praise component. During his tenure, Christian conversions, congregational ministries, and community outreach endeavors have grown. Church membership has increased under his leadership. Under his leadership, several ministries and new programs have been added to the church. Rev. Sellers has also been instrumental in creating a fellowship network of other churches in the Homewood area.


Rev. Sellers serves as the Moderator for the Mount Pilgrim Baptist District Association which is comprised of more than 160 churches. He is currently serving as President of the Faith Based Alliance for Advancement of Health Equity and Chaplain for the Jefferson County Sheriff Dept.

He was employed with Harbison-Walker Ref. for more than 25 years and served as President of Local 553 United Steel Workers. In addition, Rev. Sellers served as a Chaplain for St. Vincent’s Health Systems as well as Vice-President of Woodridge Neighborhood Association.


Rev. Sellers is a product of the Jefferson County School System. He is a graduate of Hueytown High School. Rev. Sellers received his Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the Birmingham Baptist Bible College. He earned his Masters of Ministry and Doctor of Ministry Degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla GA. Rev. Sellers is the husband of Cassandra Minard Sellers (for more than 29yrs) and the proud father of two children, Robert Jr. and Robin.
